Set 100 years after the events of Mega Man, this title follows the story of X, an unfinished Reploid created and sealed away by Dr. Light.
While this spin-off series kept aspects of the series that it had become known for, like stage selection and the use of boss weapons, it introduced a more mature story and world alongside quicker action combat.
